Words cannot describe, how much I love you so, that of which you will probably never know.

Hello, Happy Friday! IMO, Nothing can cure a tough day, time or bad mood quite like Comedy. And just when I need it the most, Charlie Sheen is back on TV! Awww once again life is good! I just love the guy because I can relate to him, like so many of us can. Haven't we all had a time when we thought we were "Winning" then to suddenly realize, Oops, not so much I guess! If you missed the show, here is a clip to give you a taste of what it is all about. I hope you enjoy a laugh or two. I'll be spending my weekend with the grand kids who also fill me with laughter. I hope you have a great weekend too.

Dreaming Tree

Hello, I hope your doing good today. I am doing pretty good. I was inspired by this picture to write a little poem. Don't we all wish there really was a Dreaming Tree!

If only for a day, I could sit
underneath a Dreaming tree,
What a Dream it would be

There I would Dream away
life's reality,
There I would recollect the Dreams
that have left me disenchanted,
and bury them deeply beneath

I'd look upon the Stars and all
their Magic,
While I dare to Dream new Dreams,
and whisper softly, please,
let these be granted

Because you must see, Dreaming Tree
How hard it is to hold onto to thee,
as life has a way of getting in
between, a way of never letting
them be seen

So for this one day, as I Dare
to Dream again and give hope,
Comfort my soul in your sway,
and allow not all my Dreams
become ghosts

Forget Regret

Hello, I hope your week is off to a good start. This article is for all of us who have, at some point in time in our lives, thought back to some choices we made along the way and thought, "if only I had decided not to do this, instead I chose to do that, my circumstances today would be different and/or possibly better. In essence what we are really doing when we think this way, is thinking falsely, and false thinking never leads to any good, at least it has not in my personal experiences. So the next time you begin to think in this way, just forget it, forget regret.

The Faulty Premise Of Regret

Regret is premised on the notion that we have the ability to know with certainty that had we only chosen a different path from the one we actually did our life wouldn't have merely turned out differently, but better. We idealize the road not taken, imagining only the good things that would have resulted from out taking it, conveniently leaving out the bad that accompanies almost every choice, if not the bad that occurs simply as a result of remaining alive while time passes. Daniel Gilbert, in his oft-quoted book Stumbling on Happiness, provides good evidence that not only do our memories inaccurately rewrite experiences into extremes depending on our retrospective judgment of them ("bad" ones becoming wholly bad and "good" ones wholly good), but also that our ability to forecast how much we'll enjoy an experience is quite dismal. Though I disagree that it's equally poor in all people as he argues—I've observed that, as with any skill, some are better at it than others—it remains hard to imagine what can't be known: the full and far-reaching consequences of any choice not made.

And yet so many of us think we can do just that. In fact, many of us suffer greatly based on our belief that if we'd only zigged instead of zagged at a crucial moment in our past, our present would be so much better. But even if today you find yourself experiencing horrible suffering as a result of a decision you once made, any confidence you feel that some other choice would have brought you to a present filled with far less is wholly unjustified. Had you made that other choice, how could you really know that, as a result of several subsequent choices and events, you wouldn't be suffering even more? You may pine for the life you think you've left unlived, but that life not only never existed, it almost certainly wouldn't have existed the way you imagine it. Think about your life today: does it exist now as you once predicted it would?

I'm not arguing that the choices we make don't matter—just that they don't matter quite as much as we think. How happy we are isn't so much a function of how our lives exist on the outside as it is how we approach them on the inside. Over the (hopefully) long span of our lives, the ups and downs of external circumstances tend to regress toward a mean (some lives clearly enjoy a higher level of happiness than others, no doubt—the millionaire's generally being higher than, say, the slave's—but shifting that set point over time is a topic for another post). Rather than allow ourselves to wallow in suffering over what might have been, we should strive to remind ourselves the grass only ever seems greener, and that there's always much to enjoy (and over which to suffer) in any and every circumstance. Our focus shouldn't be on what might have been because in general and over time it's unlikely to have been any better or worse than what is. Instead, our focus should be on making what we have now the best it can be. In short, regret is a poison that prevents you from enjoying the choices you did make. Spit it out before it's too late.

Square One

Hello, Happy Friday! Well this week was a pretty bad week, things did not work out for me at my new job, so I'm back to square one, looking again. It's probably a blessing in disguise, as it was a really hard and stressful job. I've been going through the feelings of devastation to oh well maybe something better will come along, it was just not meant to be. Apparently I did not live up to their expectations during the training. At least that is what I was told. Here in Massachusetts you are an "employee at will" which means you can be let go at anytime for any reason, no liability on the employers part. They can skip right over a warning and let you go, nice huh! So once again I need a little inspiration. I found this on Facebook and it could not be more perfect for me right now. I hope it reminds you out there too that no matter what, hold your head up, and never ever allow anyone take away your dignity.

High in the mystic heavens where matter and spirit marry,
a magic potion was brought to life by the divine apothecary
With lightning bolts he cast it down to all the worlds below,
as thunder shook the sky that day, letting everybody know

Welcoming a sweet new soul with a rare
effervescent glow, skeletons tumbled from my chest
My life a brand new start, the fairest of all faeries
was born inside my heart. I raised my arms up to the sky
My smile drank in the sea

My eyes a supernova, my heart sweet ecstasy
How blessed I was on that fine day,
the day you came to me. A precious gift
straight from the gods, your love had set me free

On This Day

Hello, I couldn't let this day go by without paying tribute to my Father. In 1987 I had written this poem for my Father as a gift on Father's Day. I could not wait to give it to him. Sadly he passed away on June 3rd of that year of a massive heart attach while at work for the Boston Globe, before I could give him this poem on Fathers day. So it was read at his funeral. I was a lucky girl to have had him as my Father. 25 years later his little girl still misses him very much, and he is often in my dreams. My friends use to tell me he looked like Walter Matthau. I kinda think so too. Happy Father's Day to all of you Dad's out there today. If your lucky enough to still have your Dad in your life, don't wait for this day each year to tell him how special he is. Time will slip through your hands and before you know it, he will too.
Thanks for visiting,
Janet :)

On this Fathers day
we want you to know
how much we appreciate
that through all the hard
times you didn't go.
through thick or thin
till death do us part
you never let the love
of your family leave
your heart

On this day you deserve
our praise
if we only knew the exact
words to say.
you should have had received
the man of the year,
brought about all mankind
for a cheer

But since these things
are out of our touch
let us thank you so much
oh so very much

Tatic Relief

Hello, Happy Saturday! After having a tough week at work I need some comedy relief. It's what helps me to deal with life difficulties. I'm starting to wonder which is harder at my new job, learning the job or learning the office tactics if you know what I mean! And I'm realizing, that it's oh so true, when they say "be careful what you wish for, you might just get it" I hope you enjoy a laugh too for whatever reason you need one!

Who We Are

Hello, I hope your doing good today, I'm doing great. I find it a little funny that I came across this saying after writing about roots and wings. Maybe someone is sending me a message, a message to remember my roots, as I start this new chapter in my life. I do go by the hometown I grew up in everyday on my way to work. And now that I'm grown, I do often think about how lucky I was to be able to grow up where I did, with who I did. I didn't realize it then, as times were often difficult with my mother's illness, and then my father's illness. But I do realize it now. Each life experience, the good and the not so good, were meant to nourish me to be me. And at this time in my life, I do feel like I have fully flourished. I have a true feeling of completeness. So as they say, I wouldn't change a single thing, not one single experience. So today I'm sending the message along to you, every once in a while take a moment to remember where you've been and how far you have come. You might just be amazed by how beautifully you have flourished from your own roots.

Non Stop

Hello, Happy Saturday! It's Saturday night and I'm doing my hair, never thought I would be saying that! It seems like it was not that long ago that I was out with the girls, or my guy on a Saturday night, at the clubs, enjoying some dancing and drinks. So I guess it's official, me and my husband are becoming old farts lol! It is yet another weekend with another something to do though. It seems I've been going non stop since I started working. This weekend it is my grandson Christopher's second birthday. It's going be fun I'm sure. Today I only have time to share a couple of pictures and say hello to you. In a way I'm looking forward to next weekend, with nothing planned and maybe some catch up blogging and vegging out, two of my favorite me time things to do!
Hope your weekend is going good,
Janet :)

Flash back to what me and
the girls would dance too!

New Horizons

Hello, I hope all is well with you. Graduation day was all I thought it would be and more, it was a great ceremony and a proud day. I'll have some pictures to share with you this weekend. I loved this saying when I saw it and I thought you might too. I know I was good at letting my shortcomings weigh me down for a while, but I had to let those shortcomings go, change my "view" of myself because nothing good was ever going to come from that view. If you don't believe in you, no one else will. By changing my view of myself, I came to view things around me differently as well. I am now reaping the rewards for believing in the new me I viewed with the opportunities I have been given. So trust me when I tell you, even if it is just for today, look at yourself in a new way. After a while of practicing that view of yourself, everything around you will fall into place the way it should for you. You will see new horizons for yourself.

Roots And Wings

Hello, Happy Saturday! I hope your doing well. I am doing great, I'm still loving my new job and all the new friends I'm making. Today is a big day for my family, as Scott will be graduating from High School. I'm sure I'll have eyes full of tears as he walks across the stage, but they will not be all tears of a Mother watching her baby become a man, in what now seems to feel like the time span of a blink of an eye, not 18 yrs. They will also be tears of joy and pride. After I wipe those tears dry, I'm sure I'll smile as I think of all the hope and promise that lies before him. He is now free to begin living his dreams. They say as Parents "We can give our children two things :one is roots, the other is wings” We've given him well grounded roots, so today we will, we will give him his wings.
